Tour de North End 2023

What’s a “Zippity Boom?

It was our own special delicious version of walking tacos for pick up when bikers and everyone else dropped by during the Tour De North End last September 23rd. Who pulled up our pulled pork in Zippity Boom? Blaz’in Magic BBQ Food Truck and Catering. We got our Zippity Boom name from the Barbecue dialogue in our next play.

Oh, you missed it? What happened at our Tour De North End?

We had a steady flow of visitors starting at about noon until 5pm with the largest bursts at 1pm and 5pm. The most often heard comment was “I didn’t know this was here” followed closely by “we’ll definitely be coming back!”

People were amazed by the set for Barbecue and many listened to our schpiel about the theater and its mission. We handed out almost 100 pamphlets and we collected many email addresses and phone numbers for the wonderful raffle basket that Barb Pittman put together for us.

We had many positive responses to our “Free Ticketing” mission— and there was one woman from the neighborhood (a regular) who asked me if we were bringing back “Free Fridays” and was ELATED to hear that we were expanding free ticketing, as she loves theater but is on a fixed income.

As a friend-raiser/awareness campaign this was MISSION ACCOMPLISHED

A rough estimate is that we got about 300-400 people through the building. We grossed $526 and sold about 50 of our Zippity Boom walking tacos (and received very positive reviews on this special snack we created). Other top money makers were our Moscow Mules and Mojitos— and we even got a few donations at the register!

All in all, a GREAT first event for our committees! Thank you all and we’re looking forward to improving and expanding for our next event!
